Lagos Intensifies Efforts to Boost Indigene Participation in Army Recruitment

…600 applications received so far ahead of May 17 deadline

LAGOS — The Lagos State Government is aiming to secure at least 1,000 applications from its indigenes for the ongoing Nigerian Army recruitment drive, with 600 entries already submitted ahead of the May 17 deadline.

Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, disclosed this during a sensitisation programme on the Army’s 89 Regular Recruits Intake held in Igando-Ikotun LCDA and at the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat. She said the recruitment aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive that each state should ensure a minimum of 150 indigenes are enlisted.

Salu-Hundeyin described military service as a noble calling and encouraged youths aged 18 to 26 to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that the military offers career paths in law, medicine, and other professions—fully funded by the government.
