ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has approved sweeping changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, effective immediately, in a strategic move aimed at reinforcing the nation’s security architecture.
The President announced the replacement of several key Service Chiefs, while maintaining continuity in the intelligence leadership.

Under the new appointments:
- Chief of Defence Staff: General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa.
- Chief of Army Staff: Major-General W. Shaibu takes office.
- Chief of Air Staff: Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes command.
- Chief of Naval Staff: Rear Admiral I. Abbas is the new Chief.
Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, retains his position amidst the changes.
President Tinubu commended the outgoing Service Chiefs for their “patriotic service and dedicated leadership.” He charged the newly appointed officers to “justify the confidence reposed in them” and to uphold the critical values of professionalism, vigilance, and unity that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria. All appointments take immediate effect.
