The submission deadline for the 11th Maltina Teacher of the Year Competition has been extended from August 22 to September 4. Nigerian Breweries Plc made the decision in response to numerous requests from teachers seeking more time to complete their applications.
According to the Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Uzodinma Odenigbo, the extension aims to ensure that as many deserving teachers as possible can participate. The competition, which is open to all secondary school teachers in Nigeria, is a key initiative to elevate the teaching profession and improve the education sector.
The overall winner of the competition will receive a trophy, a total cash prize of N10 million, a capacity development training abroad, and a N30 million school infrastructure project for their school. The first runner-up will get a trophy and N5 million, while the second runner-up will receive a trophy and N3 million. Additionally, all state champions will be awarded a recognition plaque and a cash prize of N1 million each.
Eligible teachers can apply online by visiting the official website, www.maltinateacheroftheyear.com, or by downloading the application form and sending the completed copy to maltinateacheroftheyear@heineken.com. The initiative is funded through the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, established in 1994 to contribute to Nigeria’s educational development.
