Marafa’s Former Secretary Dumps Him, Rejoins APC Leaders Yari, Matawalle

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Gusau

A former Publicity Secretary of Senator Kabiru Marafa’s All Progressives Congress (APC) faction in Zamfara State, Muhammad Bello Soja Bakyasuwa, has distanced himself from his former principal and reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC under the influence of former Governor Abdul’aziz Yari and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

Bakyasuwa, a close associate of Senator Marafa who left the party months ago, declared that the APC remains the strongest and most organised political force in the state.

His decision comes despite Senator Marafa’s recent vow to reclaim President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate in Zamfara in the 2027 elections through a new political movement yet to be unveiled. Marafa had served as the state campaign coordinator for Tinubu during the last general elections.

In a statement issued in Gusau, Bakyasuwa who is also a former Director of Security Matters in Zamfara and the immediate past Commandant of the scrapped Zamfara Anti-Thuggery Agency said he could no longer follow Marafa’s political direction.

“I am proud of my party, the APC, and I will do everything within my power to promote its strength,” he said.

The former spokesman vowed to work directly against his former boss ahead of the 2027 polls, stressing his commitment to delivering the state for President Tinubu.

“I will work for the victory of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections under the leadership of His Excellency Bello Matawalle and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari. I am still an APC member,” he declared.

Bakyasuwa added that he chose to remain in the party because no other political platform stands a chance of defeating the APC in the state.

“I choose to remain in the APC because it is the only political party to beat in Zamfara and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.
