Lagos, — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, for allegedly masterminding multiple illicit drug shipments into Nigeria.

The cleric, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church along Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos. NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said operatives waited until the end of the Sunday worship service before executing the arrest.

Prophet Adefolusho had been on the run since June after two major seizures of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, were linked to him.

  • June 4: 200kg seized at Okun Ajah beach.
  • July 6: 700kg recovered from his delivery van.

In his confession, the pastor admitted trafficking the drugs via waterways from Ghana and fleeing to Ghana after narrowly escaping arrest on two occasions.
