NDLEA Destroys N50m Cannabis Farm in Plateau

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Jos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed a three-hectare cannabis farm worth an estimated N50 million in Selek and Tobet villages, Jipal District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr. Anthony Gotar, disclosed this while briefing journalists on Thursday in Jos. He said six suspects linked to the farm were arrested, while 15 kilograms of dried cannabis were also recovered during the raid in Tobet and Selek villages.

Gotar added that further raids within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis led to the arrest of three other drug dealers. He explained that many of the drug users apprehended would undergo counseling interventions before being released to their families for proper reintegration.

The Commander appealed to the government to complete the agency’s skills acquisition and rehabilitation center in the state, noting that it would play a vital role in the treatment and rehabilitation of drug-dependent individuals.

He commended sister security agencies in Plateau for their support and urged members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to help rid the state of illicit drugs.
