Retired naval officer, Commodore Omatseye Nesiama, and his wife, Mrs Roli Nesiama, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, gave their daughter, Oritsemoyogbemi Oritsetimeyin Nesiama, out in marriage to her fiancé, Uchenna Jeffery Anorue, in a colourful ceremony that celebrated cultural unity in Delta State.
The groom, Anorue, hails from Igboland, specifically Imo State, while the bride is from the Itsekiri ethnic group. The marriage was conducted in line with Itsekiri customs and traditions.
The event, held at Kratos Ballroom along Refinery Road, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area, showcased the rich cultural heritage of both the Itsekiri and Igbo people, with traditional dancers entertaining guests through songs and dances.
Speaking with journalists at the ceremony, Commodore Nesiama advised the couple to always remember the love that brought them together, even in challenging times, noting that such remembrance would help sustain their union.
He described the marriage ceremony as more than a family celebration, saying it symbolised the unification of cultures, tribes, religions and business relationships, while also serving as a form of empowerment for guests in attendance.
Guests at the event were treated to an elaborate reception, with a wide range of continental and African dishes, assorted drinks and quality hospitality provided by the organisers.
What were meant to be souvenirs were turned into empowerment items, as guests received various gifts including caps, T-shirts, ready-made clothes and wrappers for women.
Food items such as packaged garri, palm oil, seasoning cubes, detergents and other household items were also distributed, with many guests going home with multiple gift packs.
The ceremony was marked by moments of excitement as Commodore Nesiama and his wife made a grand entrance in traditional attire, dancing enthusiastically to the admiration of guests.
Dignitaries who attended the marriage ceremony included the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi; High Chief Tunde Smooth; Chief Francis Omatseye, the Bolowei of the Niger Delta; Brigadier-General Efe Edafioghor (rtd); Hon.
