New INEC Chairman, Prof. Amupitan, Assumes Office, Meets Top Officials in Abuja

The newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has officially assumed office today at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Upon arrival, Professor Amupitan was received by National Commissioners, Directors, and other senior officials of the Commission amid warm applause and excitement from staff members.

Shortly after resuming, the new INEC boss went into a closed-door meeting with National Commissioners and Directors to discuss key operational issues and the immediate priorities of the Commission.

He is also expected to outline his vision for strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process, building on the reforms of his predecessors, and ensuring transparency and credibility in future elections.

Members of the INEC Press Corps were also in attendance as Professor Amupitan addressed the media, pledging to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to enhance public trust in the electoral system.

Today’s resumption marks the official start of Professor Amupitan’s tenure as the nation’s chief electoral umpire, signaling a new phase in the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
