NFF Not Owing Late Chukwu – Sec Gen

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that all outstanding salaries owed to the late Christian Chukwu, former Super Eagles captain and coach, have been settled.

In a statement released on Monday, Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF’s General Secretary, stated that the federation has “no record” of any outstanding payments owed to the football legend, who passed away on April 12.

Chukwu captained the Super Eagles to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title on home soil in 1980. He later served as head coach of the national team from 2002 to 2005, guiding the team to a bronze medal at the 2004 AFCON in Tunisia.

In April 2024, Chukwu publicly alleged that the NFF still owed him part of his salary from his tenure as head coach, nearly two decades after leaving the role.

Following his passing, the NFF responded to the claim, with Sanusi urging anyone in possession of legitimate documentation proving the alleged debt to present it to the federation
