Niger Delta Sports Festival Torch Arrives Akwa Ibom, Receives Governor’s Blessing

A’ IBOM:The Niger Delta Sports Festival torch has finally arrived in Akwa Ibom, marking the culmination of its tour across the nine Niger Delta states. The torch is scheduled to be received by His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, at the Executive Council Chambers (Exco) today at 1 pm.

This symbolic gesture is a precursor to the opening ceremony of the Niger Delta Sports Festival, which is slated to take place this afternoon at the Uyo Township Stadium. The festival, which runs from April 1 to 8, 2025, promises to be an exciting display of athletic prowess and unity among the Niger Delta states.

The torch’s journey across the region has been met with enthusiasm and fanfare, with each state hosting a unique ceremony to mark its arrival. From Abia State, where the torch was received by Governor Alex Otti, to Ondo State, where it was welcomed by Aiyedatiwa, the torch has been a symbol of unity and athletic excellence.

As the festival kicks off today, athletes from across the Niger Delta region will converge on Uyo, Akwa Ibom, to compete in various sporting events.
