Hundreds of Niger Delta youths on Friday,29th August, staged a peaceful solidarity protest at the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Abuja, declaring their unflinching support for the Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari.
The youths, who converged at the NNPCL Towers in large numbers, carried placards with inscriptions affirming Ojulari’s leadership qualities and contributions to the oil and gas sector. They described him as a reform-minded technocrat committed to transparency, innovation, and driving national energy security.
In a sharp rebuke, the demonstrators slammed the recent protest staged by the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) against Ojulari, describing it as “misguided, baseless, and not representative of the true aspirations of Niger Delta youths.” They insisted that the IYC protest was politically motivated and not rooted in the realities of the oil-bearing communities.

Speaking during the rally, leaders of the solidarity march noted that Ojulari’s wealth of experience in the petroleum industry has brought renewed confidence to stakeholders and host communities, stressing that any attempt to discredit his leadership would be strongly resisted.
They further urged President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government to continue to support Ojulari’s reforms, which they said are critical to sustaining Nigeria’s oil production, strengthening partnerships with host communities, and ensuring that the petroleum industry delivers greater value to the Nigerian people.
Security personnel were on ground to maintain order, ensuring the demonstration remained peaceful.
The solidarity march comes amidst recent controversies within the oil and gas industry, but the youths maintained that Ojulari’s track record stands as proof of his commitment to fairness, accountability, and national development.
