According to NBS and GHS report, the number of children in Nigeria that are not in school has hit 18 million children.
For context, that is the total population of Senegal.
With rising cases of insecurity, stakeholders says there’s need to have more children back in the classroom.
Below is the performance of each of the zones in Nigeria of children currently attending school/daycare (7yrs & younger) — 2023/24
South East — 73.0%
South South — 58.6%
South West — 57.9%
North Central — 25.2%
North East — 15.4%
North West — 13.6%
Urban Nigeria — 46.0%
Rural Nigeria — 23.9%
