Renowned Nigerian filmmaker, actor, and producer Kayode Peters Adewumi, fondly known as “KP,” has passed away at 49. His family announced he died peacefully on the morning of June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada, after a prolonged illness
KP was celebrated for his warm, generous spirit and significant contributions to Nigerian theatre and television. He gained widespread recognition as the creative force behind the hit sitcom Flatmates and appeared in productions like Extended Family, earning the respect of colleagues and fans alike.

In a heartfelt family statement, they wrote:
“KP braved, challenged and conquered a long time illness until his last breath this morning. … Beyond his talent, it was his kindness, warmth, and generous spirit that truly defined him.”
