NSCDC Vows Justice After 8 Personnel Killed in Edo Ambush

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has vowed to hunt down and prosecute the gunmen who killed eight of its personnel in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area.

The operatives were attacked late Friday while escorting Chinese expatriates working at BUA Cement Company. The assailants ambushed the team around 10 p.m., killing the officers and abducting one of the five expatriates.

Speaking on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Efosa Ogbebor, said the Corps is working with other security agencies to track down the killers.

> “Our men are still combing the forests. Those behind this wicked act will be fished out and brought to book. There is no hiding place for them,” Ogbebor said.

He explained that the NSCDC National Headquarters has taken over the case, including investigations, burial arrangements, and welfare support for the bereaved families.

On the kidnapped expatriate, Ogbebor said there had been no official contact yet with the abductors but assured that the victim would be rescued.
