DELTA: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is determined to position Delta State as the largest economy in Nigeria before the end of his administration, according to Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau.

Speaking on “Orientation Panorama,” a public affairs program on Voice of Delta 97.7 FM Radio, Oghenesivbe emphasized that the governor’s strategic implementation of the MORE agenda has significantly boosted the state’s economy. He highlighted the prudent management of resources, transparency in governance, and the appointment of top technocrats as key drivers of Delta’s economic growth.

“Governor Oborevwori has taken deliberate steps to ensure sustainable socioeconomic and infrastructural development across all sectors. His administration is focused on poverty reduction, private sector growth, and an overall increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” Oghenesivbe stated.

He further noted that the governor’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as Oborevwori has received multiple accolades, including the “Governor of the Year Award” and the “Best Governor in Infrastructure Development Award” from ThisDay Arise Media Group and The New Telegraph Newspapers within just 18 months in office.

According to Oghenesivbe, Delta’s economy has grown substantially, with the agricultural sector recording a 13% increase, while infrastructure expansion and investments in education and health have created thousands of jobs and boosted wealth creation.

“Delta is now ranked as the fourth largest economy in Nigeria, as recently confirmed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu. But Governor Oborevwori is not stopping there—he is committed to making Delta the number one economy in Nigeria without borrowing a penny,” he said.

Oghenesivbe added that the administration’s focus remains on improving social welfare services, human capacity development, financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and enhanced service delivery across all sectors.

“With his visionary leadership, Governor Oborevwori is set to propel Delta to the top of Nigeria’s economic rankings by the end of his tenure in 2031. The progress we see today is just the beginning,” he concluded.
