Oborevwori Mourns Veteran Journalist, Pa Joe Onyibe

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran journalist and publisher, Pa Joe Onyibe, describing his death as a great loss to the journalism profession, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, the Ika nation, and Delta State at large.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, to the Onyibe family, the Ika community, and the media fraternity, Governor Oborevwori extended his heartfelt sympathies, noting that the late Pa Onyibe contributed immensely to the development of grassroots journalism and public enlightenment through his publication, the Ika Voice Newspaper.

The Governor recalled Pa Onyibe’s dedication to truth, fairness, and community advocacy, qualities that earned him respect across Delta State and beyond.

“Pa Joe Onyibe who died at 90, was a trailblazer haven used journalism to amplify the voices of his people and advance the cause of good governance and social justice. His death is indeed a monumental loss,” Oborevwori stated.

While praying for the peaceful repose of his soul, Governor Oborevwori urged the family, the Ika nation, and the NUJ, Delta State Council to take solace in the remarkable legacy Pa Onyibe left behind.

He also enjoined younger journalists to emulate the late icon’s commitment to ethical journalism and service to humanity.
