Oborevwori: My Academic Credentials Are Beyond Doubt

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Asaba

DELTA: Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has declared that those who doubted his educational qualifications during the 2023 election campaign have been silenced by the reality of his achievements.

Speaking when he received the leadership of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association Worldwide at Government House, Asaba, on Friday, Oborevwori stated that the visit reaffirmed his academic credentials, proving that he is a proud alumnus of the institution.

“During the election, some people went around spreading falsehood that I never went to school. But today, the truth has prevailed,” he said. “I did a full-time programme at AAU, and I am proud to say I graduated with a 2:1. Even my course mates from Ekpoma still support me.”

Oborevwori, who was honoured with the AAU Alumni Hero’s Award and the Award of Excellence, emphasized his deep connection to the university, recounting his days as a student.

“We went through a lot at Ekpoma. In those days, we struggled to find water for bathing before heading to class, but those experiences shaped us. Today, I am the first governor to emerge from AAU, and that is a testament to the institution’s impact.”

He assured the alumni body of his support, including a personal donation toward the ongoing construction of a Computerized Examination and Records Building at the university.

Earlier, the Worldwide President of the AAU Alumni Association, Dr. Clifford Omozeghian, commended the governor’s leadership and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the university’s growth.

“The university is in dire need of infrastructure, and as an alumni body, we have embarked on a N500 million project to construct a Computerized Examination and Records Building,” Omozeghian said. “The project is already at windows level, and we appeal for your support to ensure its completion. We have resolved to name the building the ‘Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Exams and Records Building’ in your honour.”

He noted that Oborevwori’s emergence as governor was a landmark achievement for the university, justifying the awards presented to him.

“Today, we honour you with the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Hero’s Award and the Award of Excellence, in recognition of your contributions and achievements,” he added.

The visit further cemented Oborevwori’s status as a distinguished alumnus of AAU, putting to rest any doubts about his academic background.
