Oborevwori Tasks CP Aina Adesola on Tough Action Against Illegal Arms, Crime

By Peter Onyekachukwu

The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, to ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of any individual found in possession of illegal firearms or involved in activities capable of disrupting public order in the state.

Governor Oborevwori gave the charge on Tuesday in Asaba while receiving CP Aina Adesola, who led members of the Command’s Management Team on a courtesy visit to Government House.

The Governor said the posting of CP Aina Adesola to Delta State was timely and strategic, noting that the police chief is already familiar with the security terrain of the state, having previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) before his elevation and redeployment back to the Command.

Describing the posting as a blessing to the state, Oborevwori expressed confidence that the Commissioner’s experience and knowledge of Delta’s security dynamics would further strengthen ongoing efforts to sustain peace and stability.

The Governor commended officers and men of the Delta State Police Command for their professionalism and commitment to maintaining relative peace across the state, urging them to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.

He also called on residents of the state to support the Police and other security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that effective policing requires the active cooperation of the public.

Earlier, CP Aina Adesola said the visit was to formally introduce himself to the Governor and to reaffirm the Command’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Delta State Government in the collective pursuit of enhanced security, law and order, and the protection of lives and property.

The Commissioner thanked the Governor for the warm reception and assured him of sustained proactive, intelligence-led and community-oriented policing, as well as improved synergy with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders across the state.
