DELTA: Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to delivering meaningful development to residents of the state through the implementation of his MORE Agenda.

Izeze made the remarks on Thursday during the inspection of the 1.192km internal road network comprising Benjamin Osaragbaje, Orhorhor Road, Orhorhor Link Road, and Chechester Road in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area.

“Governor Oborevwori promised to be a governor for all, and true to his words, he visited this road during the Christmas holidays in 2023 and saw its deplorable state. He assured us that the road would be rehabilitated, and today, that promise has been kept,” Izeze stated.

Highlighting the project’s progress, the commissioner added, “The drains have been completed, the binder and friction course are being applied, and only road markings remain for commissioning. This is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to fulfilling his promises.”

Izeze thanked the residents for their cooperation during the project and urged them to maintain the drains to prevent blockages and flooding. “Residents must ensure the drains remain clean to serve their purpose and not become mosquito ponds due to improper waste disposal,” he said.

A resident of the area, Chief Apolo Osaragbaje, praised the governor for his swift response to their plight.

“I must commend Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, a ‘talk and do’ leader. When he visited me shortly after assuming office, I mentioned the road’s poor state, and to my surprise, within weeks, the project commenced. The governor has done a great job comparable to what Ogbemudia did in Sapele in 1972,” Osaragbaje said.

He added, “This road has not only improved mobility but also enhanced the neighborhood’s aesthetics. Governor Oborevwori has shown commitment to improving the living conditions of all Deltans across the three senatorial districts.”

The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the contractor, Niger Cat, noting that it met the Ministry of Works’ engineering standards and specifications.
