Ogidi Takes Charge as PDP S-South Caretaker Chairman, Oborevwori Tasks Committee on Party Unity

DELTA: In a bid to strengthen the leadership structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-South region, Elder Emmanuel Ogidi has been inaugurated as the Chairman of the PDP South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the National Executive Committee (NEC) Hall of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, was attended by top party leaders and government officials, including Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, who represented Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Other notable figures present included Delta PDP Chairman, Chief Solomon Areyenka, House of Representatives members Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, and Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, alongside Chief Ighoyota Amori and Olorogun Emmanuel Aguariavwodo.

In his acceptance speech, Elder Ogidi expressed gratitude to the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the party in the zone.

“On behalf of the committee, I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve. I assure you that we will discharge our duties to the best of our ability, always relying on your advice for the furtherance of the party and the glory of God,” Ogidi stated.

Governor Oborevwori, in his goodwill message, praised Ogidi’s leadership qualities and dedication to the party, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the zone effectively.

“Today’s inauguration is a testament to Elder Ogidi’s relentless dedication and commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party and the good people of Delta State. I have no doubt that under his leadership, the South-South zone of our great party will continue to flourish,” Oborevwori said.

The committee, which will oversee the party’s affairs in the zone until a new executive is elected, comprises Elder Emmanuel Ogidi as Chairman, Chief Damiete Herbert-Miller as Secretary, Dr. Chris Uduoaka as Administrative Secretary, and members including Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa, Barr. Godwin Udonta, Mrs. Bekewei Ashanti, Dame Vivian Ahanmisi, and Idehen Ebomoyi.

With the inauguration of the caretaker committee, the PDP is poised to strengthen unity and stability in the South-South region ahead of future political engagements.
