The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) will resume oil drilling at the Kolmani field, located between Bauchi and Gombe states, in June. This was confirmed by NNPC’s new Group CEO, Bayo Ojulari, in a BBC Hausa interview.
Ojulari affirmed the project’s continuity alongside the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, stressing their importance for national economic growth and job creation.
Discovered in 2019 and launched in 2022, Kolmani holds over a billion barrels of oil and 500 billion cubic feet of gas, attracting $3 billion in investment.
Ojulari also announced that the dispute between NNPC and the Dangote refinery has been resolved, with both parties now aligned to serve national interests. Fuel marketers will have consistent access to refinery output moving forward.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s crude oil output rose from 1.401 million barrels per day (bpd) in March to 1.486 million bpd in April, nearing 99% of its OPEC quota. Including condensates, total production reached 1.68 million bpd.
