DELTA: Former Delta State Governor and vice presidential candidate of the of people’s democratic Party PDP in the last presidential/general election in nigeria, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has paid a condolence visit to the family of late elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, at his ancestral home in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area.
Okowa, who was accompanied by some former aides, met with family members and signed the condolence register at the residence of the revered Niger Delta leader, who passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 97.
In an earlier tribute, Okowa described Clark as a nationalist and a fearless advocate for the Niger Delta, whose contributions to Nigeria’s development would remain indelible.
“On behalf of my family, I mourn the passing of Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, an elder statesman and a relentless voice for the Niger Delta,” Okowa stated.
“His contributions to our great nation, particularly in the Niger Delta region, will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Ijaw Nation, and all who were inspired by his leadership. May his soul rest in peace.”
The visit reaffirmed Okowa’s longstanding respect for Clark, who was regarded as a strong political figure and advocate for resource control, justice, and equity in Nigeria.
