Olu of Warri Launches Elevate Africa Fellowship with $1m Investment

DELTA: The Elevate Africa Fellowship is a distinguished mid-career leadership program aimed at empowering professionals across Africa who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to driving positive change in their communities, industries, and the continent at large. 

Established under the leadership of Their Royal Majesties Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the 21st Olu of Warri, and Olori Atuwatse III, Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom, the fellowship reflects a strategic investment in Africa’s future through a carefully curated program supported by a $1 million commitment. 

The inaugural cohort for 2025 was selected from over 3,447 applicants across 37 countries, culminating in 18 individuals from 13 nations being chosen for their excellence, integrity, and dedication to shaping the continent’s future. These fellows represent a diverse array of sectors, including health, agriculture, governance, technology, and the creative industries. Notable members of the 2025 cohort include:

Natalie Sifuma (Kenya) – Climate advocate and founder of Sisters in Climate, advancing Pan-African sustainability narratives.

Maya Fakhfakh (Tunisia) – Public health researcher and founder of MednTech, applying AI to tackle women’s health inequities.

Dr. Tosan J. Mogbeyiteren (Nigeria) – Physician and tech innovator building digital health systems for underserved populations.

Reham Fathey Aly Mohamed (Egypt) – Agricultural scientist advancing eco-conscious pest management and academic research.

Taman Mhoumadi (Comoros/Senegal) – Climate strategist and artist integrating environmental policy with creative expression.

Dr. Grace Naa Ardua Nelson (Ghana) – Public health and policy expert committed to reform and pharmaceutical accessibility.

The fellowship is structured to provide a multifaceted learning experience, including immersive workshops led by experienced African leaders, focusing on leadership development, catalytic innovations, and narrative transformation within an African context. 

Elevate Africa also encompasses initiatives such as convenings, fellowships, and think tanks aimed at reshaping the narrative of the African continent through media, showcasing Africa’s rich history, culture, and indigenous solutions. 

Through the Elevate Africa Fellowship, Their Royal Majesties aim to empower visionary African leaders to drive sustainable change, redefine African narratives, promote indigenous solutions, build a global network, and produce thought leadership that contributes meaningfully to Africa’s development.
