Omadino Community Condemns Warri South-West Chairman’s Planned Visit Amid Land Dispute

The leadership of the Omadino Community has strongly criticized the proposed spot assessment visit by Kingsley Oromoni, Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, to Akpata Ogheye—a location they firmly assert lies within Warri South Local Government Area and not under Oromoni’s jurisdiction.

This reaction follows a series of violent attacks allegedly carried out by armed groups suspected to be from Gbaramatu Kingdom.

In a press briefing held on Wednesday at the Omadino town hall, the community’s Chief Priest, Roland Yomere, denounced the move as a strategic ploy by the Ijaw people of Gbaramatu to unlawfully claim Itsekiri lands.

Yomere expressed bewilderment over Oromoni’s intention to conduct an inspection in a locality outside his administrative domain. “Ajajelebe, Akpata Ogheye is under Warri South, not Warri South-West. It should be Isaac Agbateniro, the Warri South Chairman, who conducts such an assessment. Oromoni is attempting to use his position to legitimize the illegal acquisition of Itsekiri land by the Ijaws, who have no communities in Warri South,” he stated.

While emphasizing that the community is not opposed to government oversight, Yomere invited officials—including the Warri South Chairman and representatives of the opposing group—to visit and examine the area. “We are not against the government coming to assess the location. In fact, we welcome such a visit from the appropriate authorities.”

The Chief Priest further accused Tantita Security Services of operating in Omadino territories without community consultation. According to him, the group has established outposts and erected structures without prior notice or agreement. He alleged that some residents had even been abducted temporarily by these operatives, describing it as an intimidation tactic aimed at displacing the indigenous people from their ancestral land.

“Tantita has been setting up outposts in our community without our consent. On several occasions, they’ve kidnapped our people, holding them hostage to intimidate and force them out,” Yomere alleged.

He concluded by calling on President Bola Tinubu, the Governor of Delta State, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant security agencies to visit the area .
