Osun State has significantly improved its performance in the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO), rising from 33rd to 7th position nationally.
According to data released by NECO and confirmed by the Osun State Ministry of Education, 29,101 out of 41,264 candidates from the state obtained at least five credits, including English and Mathematics — representing a 71% pass rate.
This marks Osun’s best SSCE performance in nearly two decades. The state also ranked 6th and 10th nationally for female and male candidate performance respectively.
Governor Ademola Adeleke described the achievement as a milestone in the administration’s education reform agenda, attributing it to targeted investments in teacher training, infrastructure, and curriculum development.
The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, emphasized the importance of sustaining the momentum, noting Osun’s recent accolades in national and international academic competitions, including robotics and debate.
