DELTA; A secondary school teacher at Aliyu Mustafa Academy, Jimeta, has come under fire for allegedly torturing a student, Jaafar Bashiru, for eating a mango during break time.

The shocking incident unfolded when Jaafar’s father, Bashiru Haman, visited the school to confirm his son’s school fees payment, only to find the teacher mercilessly assaulting the boy.

“I was horrified to see my son being beaten like that,” Bashiru said. “I tried to stop him, but the teacher refused to listen. I reported it to the school proprietor, Mrs. Amanda Pam, but instead of addressing the issue, she asked me to leave.”

Eyewitnesses described the teacher’s actions as excessive, leaving Jaafar with severe bruises. Despite the father’s intervention, the teacher allegedly continued raining blows on the student.

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation, with Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, directing the Deputy Commissioner in charge of investigations to take over the case.

“We take this matter seriously and will ensure that justice is served,” Morris said, urging witnesses to come forward with any information.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajiya Aisha Umar, confirmed that the ministry had received a formal complaint from Jaafar’s father and had opened an inquiry.

“We will not tolerate any form of brutality against students,” Umar said. “Appropriate action will be taken to ensure such incidents do not occur again.”

Jaafar is currently receiving medical treatment, while his family seeks justice for what they describe as an inhumane and unjustifiable assault.
