The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 41 suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Baba Ali, who was attacked and killed while on active duty.
The shocking incident has sparked outrage across the state and beyond, with many condemning the act as a brazen affront to law enforcement and a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by security personnel in the line of duty.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the spokesperson for the command, Superintendent Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, described the killing as senseless and unacceptable.
“The Command expresses shock and sadness over the brutal killing of CSP Baba Ali while on active duty. This senseless killing is a grave attack on the very fabric of our society,” he stated.
Kiyawa revealed that the police had arrested 41 individuals, including the principal actors involved in the killing, and are intensifying efforts to apprehend all others connected to the attack, as well as those behind the related acts of arson and destruction.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has vowed that the perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
“The Commissioner reiterates that the police will not rest until every individual connected to this heinous act is held accountable,” the statement added.
The police also commended members of the public for their continued cooperation and urged residents to remain calm while the investigation progresses. They further encouraged citizens to come forward with useful information to aid in bringing those responsible to justice.
The killing of CSP Baba Ali has left a deep scar in the hearts of many in Kano and across Nigeria, especially within the security community, as tributes continue to pour in for a man described by colleagues as dedicated and fearless.
The command reassured the public of its commitment to restoring order and protecting lives, emphasizing that acts of violence against security personnel will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
