Akwu-kwu Igbo, Delta State.
Delta State Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of Chigozie Udalor, a site manager who was killed by his own workers in December 2024. The victim, employed by his cousin Hyacinth Nnalue to manage a fish bond in the Bod Camp area of Akwu-kwu Igbo, was reported missing on December 12, 2024, after last being seen on December 10.
Following the disappearance, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Akwu-kwu Igbo initiated an investigation, which was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). In response to the case, the Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, instructed a technically driven inquiry under the leadership of CSP Aliyu Shaba.
On March 31, 2025, two key suspects were arrested: David Tacho, who was found attempting to withdraw funds from the victim’s account using his phone, and Daniel Orshio, who was also implicated in the murder. Investigations revealed that David Tacho, along with his brother Victor Tacho (who remains at large), Pius Daniel (also at large), and Orshio, conspired to kill Udalor after discovering that he had money in his Moniepoint account.
According to the police, the suspects used a hammer to strike Udalor in the head, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the fish bond site. The body of the deceased was exhumed, and an autopsy is now pending to determine the exact cause of death.
While David Tacho and Daniel Orshio are in police custody, the hunt for the remaining two suspects, Pius Daniel and Victor Tacho, continues. Authorities have assured the public that efforts to apprehend the fugitives are ongoing.
The investigation remains active as police work to bring all involved to justice.
