DELTA: A 17-year-old boy, Emeka Odogwu, was reportedly shot and killed by a police officer in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, over possession of knockouts.
The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night when police officers entered the area. According to witnesses, Odogwu resisted arrest and attempted to flee, prompting one of the officers to open fire, resulting in his death.
The Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancement (ISRCA) has condemned the incident, calling it a blatant case of unprofessional conduct.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement. “The officer involved has been identified and is currently in detention.
The Commissioner of Police assures the family of the deceased that justice will prevail,” he said
