Operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) have uncovered the hideout of suspected ritualists and internet fraudsters in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area, recovering firearms and fetish items in the process.
The operation, which was carried out on October 6, 2025, followed credible intelligence on cult-related activities within Ibusa and its surrounding communities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives stormed the residence of one Onwugbenu Olisa, located along Umunye bypass by Power Line, Ibusa, where incriminating exhibits were recovered.
Although the prime suspect, Olisa, is currently at large, police arrested a 45-year-old man identified as Okechukwu Okwudili Nwanolue, a native of Abala-Obodo community in Aniocha North Local Government Area.
During a thorough search of the premises, police operatives discovered a pump-action gun loaded with three live cartridges, two laptops suspected to be used for internet fraud, a live snail, and other fetish objects concealed in a shrine.
SP Edafe said the items found at the scene raised suspicion of both ritual and cybercrime activities, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing prime suspect and other members of the gang.
In a separate operation, the CP-SAT team acted on intelligence regarding an armed syndicate that had been terrorising motorists and commuters along the Sapele–Warri Expressway.
On October 7, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., operatives raided a criminal hideout at Adheje community, near Sapele, where two suspected robbers were arrested.
The suspects, identified as 24-year-old Lucky Tenaera from Okwetolor community in Sapele Local Government Area and 38-year-old Prince Emma Esemedafe from Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, were apprehended while residing at Adheje.
Items recovered from the suspects include a locally made long gun, eleven ATM cards belonging to different individuals, and other exhibits linked to their criminal operations.
SP Edafe confirmed that both suspects are in custody and are currently undergoing investigation, assuring that the command remains committed to flushing out criminal elements across the state.
He further reiterated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi, has directed sustained intelligence-led operations to ensure the safety and security of residents across Delta State.
