The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers, cultists, and kidnappers, alongside the recovery of a cache of weapons, including a G3 rifle, pump action gun, Beretta pistols, and a locally fabricated firearm.In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda reiterated his commitment to ensuring Deltans can “sleep with their two eyes closed” by intensifying efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.Ibusa Road Operation:On January 17, 2025, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) operatives apprehended two suspects, Ogochukwu Stephen (25) and Christian Emmanuel (24), during a stop-and-search along Ibusa Road, Asaba. A search of their tricycle revealed two rounds of 9mm live ammunition. Further investigations led to the recovery of two fabricated Beretta pistols and an improvised gun from their residences.The same day, acting on intelligence, officers from the Agbarho Division raided the residence of Eriga Enyuche (40). A search uncovered a G3 rifle, a pump action gun, and a cutlass hidden in his ceiling.Bomadi Cultist Crackdown:On January 18, 2025, following reports of suspected cultists displaying weapons in Bomadi, police operatives arrested Felix Emizibo (29). A fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered, which the suspect reportedly purchased from his uncle for ₦150,000.CP Olufemi Abaniwonda praised the officers for their dedication and urged residents to support the police with credible and timely information. “These arrests show our commitment to combating crime. Together, we can make Delta State safer,” he said.
