DELTA: A group of concerned citizens from the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State has expressed dissatisfaction with their representative at the National Assembly, Hon. Ngozi Okolie, citing poor performance.
Operating under the name Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, the group threatened to initiate a recall process against the lawmaker if he fails to improve his representation.
In a press statement signed by the group’s Coordinator, Comrade Jude Nkemchor, and Secretary, Mr. Christian Okeleke, the citizens listed four key areas where they believe Hon. Okolie has failed the constituency.
The group accused Hon. Okolie of being absent from the constituency since his election, claiming he has failed to engage with his constituents or provide updates on his legislative activities.
“Hon. Okolie has been completely absent from the constituency. There is no visible effort on his part to connect with the people or attend community events. It is as though we have no representative,” the statement read.
The group also lamented the lack of developmental impact in the constituency, noting that Hon. Okolie has not attracted or executed any meaningful projects since assuming office.
“Since his assumption of office, there have been no improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, or empowerment programs for our people. The constituency has been left in darkness,” they stated.
They further accused the lawmaker of failing to carry his constituents along, describing him as aloof and unapproachable.
“Hon. Okolie has disregarded the people he represents. Representation should be inclusive and people-focused, but this has not been the case. We feel like sheep without a shepherd,” the group lamented.
The group described Hon. Okolie’s leadership style as arrogant and self-centered, prioritizing personal interests over the collective good of the people.
“We do not want a representative who sees himself as a boss rather than a servant-leader. Our people deserve a leader who is accountable, transparent, and committed to the progress of Aniocha/Oshimili,” they stated.
The group revealed that consultations with constituents are ongoing, and they are considering initiating a recall process if Hon. Okolie does not improve his performance.
“We have begun consultations on the possibility of recalling Hon. Okolie. If he does not wake up to his responsibilities, we will take necessary actions to ensure the constituency gets the representation it deserves,” the statement concluded.
The development has sparked discussions in political circles, with many calling on Hon. Okolie to address the concerns raised by his constituents to avoid a potential recall.
