ABUJA—President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a comprehensive statement strongly condemning two major security incidents: the tragic abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the death of Brigadier General M. Uba, who was killed by ISWAP terrorists in Borno State.
The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, particularly schoolchildren, and demanded immediate, decisive action from security agencies.
Regarding the abduction of the female students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Kebbi State, President Tinubu expressed outrage over the “reprehensible attack” and the killing of the school’s Vice Principal.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed the President’s clear directives, stating that security and intelligence agencies have been charged to immediately locate and safely recover the abducted students.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated that protecting every Nigerian, especially schoolchildren, remains a solemn responsibility of the state,” Idris said. He added that the government will not relent until the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice.
The President also addressed the complex and tragic circumstances surrounding the death of Brigadier General M. Uba, the Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 25 Task Force Brigade, who was recently killed by ISWAP fighters in Borno State.

President Tinubu praised the late General as a brave and dedicated officer. While condemning the terrorist act, the statement implicitly acknowledged the serious security concerns raised about the fatal leak of the General’s location, which preceded his death. The President has reportedly ordered a thorough investigation into the operational and intelligence failures that may have compromised the safety of the senior officer.
The Minister of Information affirmed that internal security remains a top priority, with the administration actively “recalibrating the nation’s military, policing, and intelligence capabilities” to swiftly prevent and respond to such complex attacks, whether by bandits or internal saboteurs.
The statement concluded by assuring Nigerians that the government is deepening security cooperation through regional bodies like ECOWAS and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to dismantle criminal networks and restore stability.
