Panic has gripped Jesse Town in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State following the abduction of Mr. Francis Amakare, the in-law of Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Newspapers.
Amakare was kidnapped late Friday, September 26, while returning home. The assailants quickly contacted his family, demanding a ₦10 million ransom and warning against involving security agencies.
The brazen attack has triggered anxiety across the community, with residents decrying the rising wave of kidnappings in the state.
Local vigilante groups and security operatives have since launched a manhunt for the kidnappers. However, the Delta State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
Prince Orhomonokpaye, visibly distraught, has joined forces with community leaders and security outfits in frantic efforts to secure his relative’s safe release.
Residents are calling on the government and law enforcement agencies to intensify security operations in the area, warning that the growing spate of abductions could spiral further if left unchecked.
Negotiations with the kidnappers were still ongoing at press time, with the victim’s whereabouts unknown.
