Rivers: The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok Ibas, has assured that the Rivers State House of Assembly complex will be completed within six months, emphasizing his commitment to restoring full legislative activities in the state.
Speaking on Saturday during an inspection of the site, Ibas noted that a functional legislature is a critical pillar of governance, and his administration is determined to ensure the lawmakers have a proper working environment within the stipulated timeframe.
“I have been in the executive arm of governance, and one of the missing pillars at the moment is the legislature. For them to function effectively, they need a place to work from,” he stated.
Accompanied by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, Ibas was conducted around the project site by the General Manager of the construction company, Engr. Omaka Oko. He urged the contractor to adhere to agreed timelines, stressing that the state government had fulfilled its financial obligations for the project.
“They have a schedule and timelines that I believe they will stick to. The state has done its part by providing the necessary funds. Now, the onus is on them to ensure timely delivery,” he added.
Ibas reiterated that his primary mandate is to maintain law and order while ensuring the smooth operation of government institutions.
