Roof Collapse on Governor,kills 98

A devastating roof collapse at the renowned Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, has resulted in the deaths of at least 98 people, with officials warning that the number could rise.

Among the victims are provincial governor Nelsy Cruz and former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel, both confirmed to have perished in the disaster.

The collapse also left at least 160 individuals injured, while approximately 400 emergency personnel continue search and rescue efforts in hopes of finding survivors trapped beneath the debris.

Grieving families have gathered at the site, anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones.

Authorities have emphasized that the casualty figures remain provisional, as the exact number of people inside the venue at the time of the incident is still unknown.

“The preliminary death toll has risen to 98,” confirmed Juan Manuel Mendez, head of the Dominican Republic’s Emergency Operations Center.
