The Nigeria Police Force has reported the theft of an official Toyota Buffalo Land Cruiser from its national headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
According to an internal wireless message issued by the Commissioner of Police (DFA, Katsina Command) and relayed from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), the vehicle went missing on July 28, 2025.
The stolen vehicle, with chassis number JTELU71JX0B027126 and registration number NPF 5594 D, was attached to the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters.
Police sources said the car was discovered missing after being removed from the official parking lot.
The signal message directed all area commands, divisional police officers, and formations across the country to be on alert and assist in recovering the vehicle.
“Case is under investigation. Grateful disseminate to formations, area commands, and divisions for possible recovery,” the message read.
Security operatives were further instructed to treat the matter as “very important” and provide any information that could help in tracing the vehicle.
The incident has triggered fresh scrutiny over security lapses at the nation’s highest police facility.
As of press time, no arrests had been made, and the vehicle’s whereabouts remain unknown.
