Striker Victor Osimhen was the hero for the senior national team of Nigeria with a brace that powered the team to a 2-0 win over their host Rwanda in Kigali.
Osimhen showed his striker’s instincts with the opening goal for Nigeria by stabbing home a well delivered free kick from Ademola Lookman in the 11th minute.
He was on hand again make the best of a header from Samuel Chukwueze by beating his marker to the ball before dinking the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper of Rwanda.
This is his first match in the world cup qualifiers after missing the first four games in the series.
The win was Nigeria’s first in the qualifiers, and it was the first game under new coach Eric Chelle,it is also Nigeria’s first win over Rwanda in twenty years.
The Eagles will now face Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday.
