Former Super Eagles of Nigeria star and the first board member of the Delta state Sports Commission,Sam Sodje, has urged Nigerians to give newly appointed Nigeria national team coach, Eric Chelle a chance.
Sodje who spoke from London,UK,as a phone-in guest during Sports Xtra program on Crown FM radio,Delta state, said the pessimism that has greeted Chelle’s appointment is understandable considering the strength and pedigree of other coaches that the Nigeria Football Federation,NFF overlooked.
The former Brentford City of England defender however maintained that there’s need to give the Malian benefit of doubt, stressing that Chelle’s appointment might turn out to be a master stroke by the NFF.
According to him “I can understand why Nigerians are reacting this way especially when you look at other managers that were in the race for the job,but It is important we give him the benefit of doubt and support him”.
He further added that” Chelle, might just turn out to be a master stroke by the NFF,if he succeed it is for all of us same is the reverse that’s why I say let’s support him”.
Meanwhile the NFF will unvaile the new coach in Abuja on Monday 13th January 2025.
