ABUJA, – The victorious Super Falcons were accorded a special reception at the Presidential Banquet Hall of the State House on Monday, following their historic record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title win in Morocco on Saturday.

The triumphant squad, who staged a dramatic 3-2 comeback against the Atlas Lionesses, arrived at the Aso Rock forecourt shortly before 4:36 p.m. local time, initially received by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

However, the main reception saw the Super Falcons graciously hosted by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Second Lady, Her Excellency Nana Shettima, and female members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC). This prominent female leadership presence underscored the significance of the Falcons’ achievement and served as a powerful tribute to their prowess on the continental stage.
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu had praised the team, including Captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade, in a post-match video call on Saturday night, commending their resilience in overturning a 2-0 deficit. This latest WAFCON triumph marks the Super Falcons’ fourth title in the last decade (2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024), solidifying their unparalleled dominance in African women’s football.
