Taraba Govt Launches Digital Health Records, Workforce Database

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Jalingo

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has unveiled two new innovations aimed at transforming the state’s health sector — the Electronic Medical Records for Secondary Healthcare Facilities (EMR4SHF) and the Human Resources for Health (HRH) Database.

Speaking at the launch in Jalingo, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bodiya Gbansheya Buma, said the initiative would digitize patients’ records and improve the management of health personnel across secondary healthcare facilities.

He explained that the EMR4SHF will streamline documentation, enhance care coordination, and ensure accurate patient records, while the HRH Database will centralize information on workforce deployment, performance tracking, and training needs. This, he said, will improve resource planning and management across the health system.

Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a people-centered healthcare system and urged stakeholders to support the successful rollout and sustainability of the project.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Health Services Management Board (HSMB), Dr. Garba Danjuma, said the Board had developed an Electronic Data Management System (EDMS) with two key components — the EMR4SHF and the HRH Database.

According to him, the system, built on a robust software platform, features a live dashboard and central database hosted at the HSMB Headquarters in Jalingo. It will be accessible to authorized stakeholders for planning, monitoring, and decision-making.

Dr. Danjuma added that the EDMS will integrate workforce and service delivery indicators for performance tracking, provide real-time data on staff profiles, postings, training, and performance, as well as strengthen capacity building for the Health Services Management Board.
