The Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government Area in Taraba State, Bitrus Ilu Danjos, has hailed the Nigerian Army for its successful clearance operations that led to the destruction of over 70 bandit camps and the restoration of peace in troubled communities.
Danjos, who visited the troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in Andamin community on Sunday, said the ongoing Operation Lafiyan Jamaa has brought significant relief to residents who have lived under the constant threat of banditry and kidnapping.
“Our people can now sleep with both eyes closed. The courage and discipline displayed by the troops in tackling these criminal elements is commendable,” Danjos said.
The council boss praised the leadership of Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, for the operational successes recorded. He also presented a cash donation to support the troops and pledged the local government’s continued collaboration in sustaining peace and security across Karim Lamido.
Receiving the delegation, Lieutenant Colonel D. Otobo, who represented the Brigade Commander, thanked the Chairman for the gesture and reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to securing the area.
“Our mission is clear. We will continue to defend the lives and property of law-abiding citizens and ensure that criminal elements have no hiding place in Taraba,” Otobo said.
The military’s operation, which has recovered various weapons and ammunition from the bandits, has been described by locals as one of the most effective security interventions in recent years.
