Tinubu Approves Full Payment of Super Falcons’ Bonuses Ahead of WAFCON Final

ABUJA – In a significant boost for Nigerian sports, President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the full and immediate payment of all allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons. This timely approval comes just ahead of their highly anticipated 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final against Morocco on July 26.

Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, confirmed on Thursday that all entitlements, including those for the final match, have been disbursed for immediate payment to players, coaches, and officials.

Dikko hailed the President’s move as “policy in motion,” signaling a fresh commitment to Nigerian athletes. He assured that timely, drama-free payments would now be the standard, extending this new policy to the D’Tigress, Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, who will also receive improved allowances and bonuses for their upcoming 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket campaign.

“This is the kind of sports administration we are building, one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity,” Dikko stated, emphasizing a new era for sports funding under the Tinubu administration.
