Tinubu Boosts State Funding for Projects — Wike

By Peter Onyekachukwu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has declared that states are receiving increased funding for capital projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Wike made this known on Wednesday during the commissioning of the 15.13km Ikot Otomo–Azumini Road in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

He said his decision to join President Tinubu’s cabinet was driven by a commitment to national development, not party politics.

According to him, the president’s leadership has prioritized making resources available for states to execute meaningful projects.

“The leadership of the present government has made money available for the states to carry out development. I am not here for party politics, I am here for development,” Wike stated.

The minister praised Governor Umo Eno for aligning with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, noting that such unity will attract more federal presence and accelerate Akwa Ibom’s growth.

Governor Eno, in his remarks, commended Wike’s achievements in the FCT and lauded his visit to commission projects in Akwa Ibom. He stressed that unity across political divides remains the key to sustainable progress.

Eno highlighted that the Ikot Otomo–Azumini Road, which connects Akwa Ibom with Abia State, reflects inter-state cooperation and the continuity of governance, regardless of party lines.

He assured residents that his administration would continue to complete inherited projects and support President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria, adding that Akwa Ibom remains united in backing the federal government.

The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the people enjoy the dividends of democracy through inclusive development.
