Tinubu, Buhari Became President for Personal Reasons — Baba-Ahmed Alleges

Former presidential adviser, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has claimed that both President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari sought power for personal ambition rather than national interest.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed said Buhari didn’t become president to govern Nigeria but merely to fulfill a personal goal.

“Six months into Buhari’s presidency, I resigned from APC. I saw clearly he didn’t intend to run the country. He just wanted to be president,” he said.

Drawing parallels, he accused President Tinubu of following the same path, saying both men had long political careers that became more about achieving personal milestones than serving the people.

“That’s the wrong reason to seek power. Leadership should be about governance and improvement, not self,” he added.

On whether he plans to join the ADC coalition, Baba-Ahmed affirmed his loyalty to the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), noting his past role as APC chairman in his state before resigning due to disillusionment.

His comments come amid growing public discontent over political leadership and economic challenges in the country.
