Tinubu Dismisses Rift With Sanwo-Olu: “All Is Forgiven”

President Bola Tinubu has dispelled rumours of a rift with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, declaring that their relationship remains intact. “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” Tinubu said during a Sallah homage visit at his Ikoyi residence.

The visit was led by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Chairman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and included top Lagos APC leaders, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

The reconciliation follows speculation of a fallout after Tinubu appeared to snub Sanwo-Olu during the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway launch in May. Video footage from the event showed the President bypassing the governor while greeting other dignitaries.

During the Sallah visit, GAC members reportedly pleaded with Tinubu on Sanwo-Olu’s behalf, with some even prostrating in a show of remorse. The President responded graciously, ending talks of discord.

Speaking afterward, Sanwo-Olu dismissed rumours of tension. “We came to pray with and show support for Mr President. Lagos is solidly behind him,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, also visited Tinubu, praising his economic reforms and foreign relations progress. He cited his recent trip to Kazakhstan, noting renewed global interest in Nigeria.

The monarch also endorsed the administration’s proposed Forest Guard security initiative, calling it a key step toward ensuring national security and attracting foreign investment.
