ABUJA – President Bola Tinubu has bestowed significant national honors and rewards upon Nigeria’s Super Falcons and their entire technical crew, following their record breaking 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title win.
During a reception held in honor of the team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced that all players and the 11-man technical team would be conferred with the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
In addition to the national awards, the President directed the allocation of three bedroom apartments in the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja to each of the players and members of the technical crew.
Further demonstrating his appreciation, President Tinubu also approved a cash award equivalent to $100,000 USD for each of the 24 players, and the naira equivalent of $50,000 USD for each member of the 11-man technical crew.
Adding to the shower of accolades, the Nigerian Governors Forum, represented by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdul Rasaq, gifted a sum of 10 million naira to each team member.
