Oba of Benin – Edo State.

The Benin Kingdom, home to the Edo people, boasts a rich history of over ten centuries and is renowned for its advanced artistry and craftsmanship.

The influence of the Oba of Benin extends well beyond the borders of his ethnic group.

The current monarch, Oba Ewuare II, ascended the throne in 2016 and continues to play a significant cultural and traditional role both within and outside Edo State.


Olu of Warri – Delta State.


The Olu of Warri is the traditional ruler of the Warri Kingdom, predominantly inhabited by the Itsekiri people, who refer to their land as Iwerre.

Historically, they were prominent traders, especially with Europeans during the pre-colonial and colonial periods.

The present monarch, Ogiame Atuwatse III, is known for his modern outlook and cultural pride since his ascension.

Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, the current Obong of Calabar, was reinstated in 2023.

As the spiritual and traditional head of the Efik people, he holds significant influence in Cross River State.

His leadership is also associated with the globally recognized Calabar Carnival, which has contributed to his growing prominence.
