DELTA: The gruesome murder of 23-year-old Esther Osaze, a promising real estate agent, has sparked outrage in Ibusa, Delta State, following her abduction by gunmen.
Esther, who had just begun her career after completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was kidnapped on Monday while returning from a land inspection near the Nigerian Admiralty University in Ibusa. Armed men ambushed her team, shooting at their vehicle.
While her three colleagues managed to escape, she was taken captive.
Two days later, her lifeless body was discovered in a remote area of the community, blindfolded and bearing signs of torture.
A local source described the harrowing discovery: “Her body was found on Tuesday evening. The kidnappers shot at their vehicle, and while the others escaped, she was dragged away. Now, she’s gone.”
Friends and family are devastated, struggling to comprehend the senseless killing of a young woman who had big dreams. “She wanted to make something of herself in real estate after not securing a bank job. Now, she’s been cut down in her prime,” a grieving family friend said.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with Police Public Relations Officer CSP Bright Edafe stating, “Yes, the lady was killed, and her body was found on the road. The police have deposited her body at the morgue.”
Esther’s brutal killing has heightened fears over rising insecurity in Delta communities, with residents calling on authorities to take urgent action against rampant kidnappings and violent crimes.
