Truck Crash Claims Three in Yenagoa

By Peter Onyekachukwu, Yenagoa

Three persons have lost their lives in a fatal accident involving a truck, a vehicle, and a tricycle at the Okaka axis of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The accident occurred at the Sani Abacha area of Okaka when a truck reportedly lost control and rammed into the smaller vehicles.

Witnesses said the impact of the collision caused severe damage, leading to the death of three occupants and injuries to several others.

According to residents, the timber-laden truck suddenly veered off its lane before hitting the vehicle and the tricycle, popularly known as keke napep.

They explained that the force of the collision left the smaller vehicles mangled, resulting in immediate casualties at the scene.

Passers-by rushed the injured victims to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention shortly after the crash.

The bodies of those who died were later evacuated by emergency responders who arrived at the scene.

The accident caused a temporary disruption of traffic along the busy expressway as authorities worked to clear the wreckage.

Security personnel and traffic officers cordoned off part of the road to prevent further incidents and ease rescue operations.

Residents of the area described the incident as “shocking,” noting that heavy-duty trucks frequently pass through the Okaka axis.

Efforts to get confirmation from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Muhammad, were unsuccessful as he said he would verify the incident but had yet to revert at press time.
